BLACK ART ILLUMINATED

A CELEBRATION OF ART & CREATIVITY

This event is a regional convening of Black artists, creatives, designers, and talent during the BLINK Cincinnati Light Festival. This multi-faceted day will showcase the contributions of Black creative minds, build a diverse talent pipeline for creative and marketing-related firms, and foster stronger connections between creative and marketing professionals within our region.

Black Art Illuminated has three parts. All events are FREE of charge.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Part 1: From Passion to Profession

The Collegiate Panel, 3—5p
Students and faculty will draw inspiration from the personal and professional life experiences of mid- and senior-level creative and marketing professionals. Attendees will learn about discovering and harnessing their passion for creativity and how it can be manifested into a professional career path.

Part 2: Meet the Artists

5—6p  
Provides an informal convening of prospective creatives and established professionals to meet featured Black artist(s) who have works at BLINK Cincinnati and/or the Bounty Prints project.

Part 3: Black Art Showcase

Reception, 6—9p  
Brief program to convene at 7p.

A regional convening of creative and marketing professionals that celebrates the prowess and creativity found in the works of Black artists. The gathering is comprised of an exhibition of artworks from local Black artists as we celebrate a BLINK Light Mural that is curated by international black artists in an environment of light bites, cocktails, and music.

Artwork Submissions

Black Creatives, we hear you, we see you.

We are inviting you to be a part of the festivities of the BLINK Light Festival by shining a light on your creative works.  

The HUENITED COLLECTIVE (a non-profit entity focused on diversifying the design and creative industries) is hosting a digital art exhibition in partnership with the Bounty Brand at P&G. We are accepting submissions of visual art pieces to display at a Black design and creative industry reception on the evening of October 14th in Findlay Market during the BLINK Light Festival. We are celebrating a BLINK installation that was created by an international black artist and we would like to celebrate you, too.

The Theme:  Expressions of Black Creativity

How It Works:

  • Identify pieces in your collections that bring the theme to life
  • All mediums of art, including photography, video, fine art, and graphic design are welcomed. You may submit up to 2-3 pieces.
  • This is a digital exhibit; no physical art pieces will be accepted or displayed
  • Submissions will be scrolled and broadcasted in Findlay Market during HUENITED events and receptions

Artist recognition will occur during the HUENITED Black Artist Illuminated Reception on October 14.

All submissions are due by Monday October 10.

Terms and Considerations:

  • This is a family-oriented event (pieces with nudity or other provocative themes are not encouraged)
  • All submissions should be in the format of a digital image (JPEG, TIFF, PNG, under 15 MB)
  • Please submit a photo of yourself as well as an artist statement (brief bio and/or description of your piece)
  • All submissions will be reviewed by a HUENITED panel in the areas of creativity, expression, ethnic cues, and the number of submissions, among other factors.  There is no guarantee that all submissions will be placed in the digital exhibit.
  • Selected artists/works will be promoted by the HUENITED group of creative agencies and marketing professionals  
  • By submitting works, the artist is agreeing to HUENITED’s usage of the piece(s) during the BLINK event, HUENITED website, and social media channels for a period of 6 months
